Easy Platter is a two-sided platform designed to help customers find and book chefs for in-home meal preparation. It has been launched in major cities across Canada.

Business overview

Easy Platter is a tech start-up based in Halifax, NS, Canada. They have successfully secured investor funding and assembled a team focused on product development and business growth.

I joined the team as the sole Product UX/UI Designer, responsible for conducting research and creating user interfaces for responsive web and mobile applications. My role involves managing the entire design system and overseeing all mock-up designs. Additionally, I support the Growth team by producing a variety of marketing assets, including banners, door hangers, and other design items.

Design system

The design system was developed using the M3 Material Design system from material.io, with adjustments made to align with our branding.

Colour palette

Pink is the main/branding colour. This colour represents Easy Platter’s characteristics, those are energetic, friendly, luxury and trendy.

Orange is the accent/ highlighting colour. This colour is bringing the similar feeling with pink but more vibrant, so can be blended in linear and some noteworthy places such as CTA, second button…

Grey scales as our brand gravitates toward Simplicity Style, we need to use different scales of grey in various circumstances (back ground, button, text…)

All UI elements were created using standard UI techniques, including pixel perfect, multiples of 8, and Figma Auto Layout. Consistency was maintained through Figma’s component features.

Feature 1 | Landing page

Landing page is used for both digital marketing and UX functionality, so it was designed to combine aesthetics with enhanced user interactions.

Feature 2 | Check out flow

Checkout flow was researched and compared with similar companies in the industry to optimize the process, making it as easy as possible for customers to complete their transactions.

Feature 3 | Subscription details

Subscription details page is where user see their chef booking details. They can do various actions in this page, such as: Add/remove menu, reschedule the meal prep date, pause meal prep, add instructions, export receipt, cancel subscription…

Feature 4 | Chef’s information

Customers can view a list of chefs and use filters to select the right one based on criteria such as location, cuisine, or highest ratings. They can access detailed information about each chef and book a chef based on their availability.

Feature 5 | Chef management platform

Easy Platter is a two-sided platform for both customers and chefs. In addition to the customer interface, we have also developed a platform for chefs to manage their availability, days off, shifts, and profiles.
